Learning and Growing

Even though I've had a child in toddlerhood before, it always amazes me how quickly they learn and grow up.

The other day I was washing dishes and the kids were playing on the living room floor. Kaiya was especially quiet and so I turned to see what she was up to and this is what I saw.

She laid this all out by herself (brother was outside) and I have to admit I was impressed by her instinctual knack for symmetry. So, naturally, I took more pictures!

She eventually moved the top block there to the right side of the structure. They say that babies love symmetrical faces so maybe this is something that comes naturally to kids. I think it's neat the way she laid it out, as if there was no thought involved at all. Later, she lined up our wooden window dowels largest to smallest.

Maybe she's more Montessori than Waldorf?
